The Dress

Okay, so, the dress that I have had my eyes set on for years is a discontinued Alfred Angelo design, which is fortunately still made on the cheap by www.catchthebouquet.com.au, and several of those Chinese manufacturers. The dress is currently not listed on the Australian site however; the business owner has insisted that she can still make it for me, but due can't post it on the site as the price will not always be accurate (something about the price fluctuating on the new lace she's using).

Anyway, here's the addy for the dress on one of the Chinese websites:

I love it because it is pretty timeless, it's very different from the myriad of strapless, seen-one-seen-them-all "princess" gowns that so many girls choose, it's very "me", and it covers up my skin enough so I won't need to worry about back and shoulder pimples, etc. that I'm prone to getting.

However, I am completely open to the fact that if I do go out trying on gowns, I may fall in love with something twice the size and four times the price.

Oh, and catchthebouquet.com.au have hoop petticoats for around $40, and veils starting at $20. Bargain or what?

  1. That is pretty and, yes, very you! Can we go gown hunting anyway? Nowhere you have to pay, of course, because that is the biggest bullshit fee I've ever heard of. Also, only if you're keen. Calm down, Jane, deep breaths.
Now I will be completely honest with you here: you have a beautiful body and beautiful skin. I KNOW YOU ARE SHAKING YOUR HEAD AND THINKING THAT I HAVE A DIFFERENT HELEN IN MIND. I don't. There is very little you actually need to cover up of yourself (besides the privates - not a good weddingy look). And obviously I'm not suggesting the girls should be hanging out for all to gawk at. But don't be afraid to show a little skin. You really do have a good thing going on, Hel, and you should be proud and make the most of it on this day.

  2. Just had a shower and I tend to think about things a lot there..... Do you know what this dress reminds me of? Cinderella. Not the dresses that you mentioned above (all the same, Cinderella type gowns), I mean Disney Cinderella. That's who you would look like in this dress. And it would be totally matched with a vintage titanicy glamour theme.... Yes, I pretty much stood in the shower pretending I was in the Disney animated Cinderella......

  3. Lol, as you do!

I went to the bridal expo at Burswood today with Al and saw some pretty amazing gowns. Nothing I could really see myself in, but it's nice to look. I think I want to go trying on anyway cause it's the only time I'll ever get to put on dresses with huge ballgown skirts!

I've got a week of annual leave from the 4th to the 7th July, and Mum will be back by then, so maybe we can do a thing then if you're free?

Anyway, speaking of showing skin and getting the girls out, I went to Viva Life Photography in Joondalup today and used a $25 offer we got at Sexpo for a nude shoot! It was very cool and quite enjoyable. The studio was hell dark so I didn't feel very self-conscious. We've ordered some big framed piccys of me in the nuddy (tasteful, not pornographic!), Alan chose them all of course, and he will probably put them up in the bedroom, since visitors don't really go in there, and if they do I don't really give a crap if they see my boobs. They are also costing us freaking thousands, but you can do a take home layby over 12 months thankfully. Anyway, it was a very cool thing to do on a Saturday. :)
